Compelling Choices
There are some things you just have to do-- you have no choice in the matter, right? Well, not really. You always have a choice; you could choose not to go to school or work on Monday morning. It's just that the repercussions might make for some pretty compelling grounds to get out of bed and onto the bus. Paul says that he was "compelled to preach" (I Cor 9:16); he just had to do it. All Christ-followers are compelled to speak, behave, act, in a certain way. It is the Holy Spirit who compells us to try to be more like Jesus (Happy Pentecost!) This Sunday we witness the public profession of faith of 5 people -- they have been compelled to do this. Come celebrate with us and with them.

Runaways
Sometimes we might feel like no one cares, no one understands. If we ran away no one would even miss us. Hagar ran away when her mistress made her life too miserable to bear. But in her deepest distress, God saw her. God understands, God cares, God has compassion on us. Join us this Sunday as we look at the story of Hagar and what it tells us about God. 10:00 a.m., 293 Place Street in Lucknow.

Power-Aid
On our own we can't usually accomplish very much. But when we work together, aided by the power of the Holy Spirit, even our most inconsequential efforts can produce amazing results. When Jesus ascended to heaven, he promised us that power - that's the focus of this Sunday's service, 10 a.m. May 17. If I remember...
We all need a few little tricks to help us remember to pick up that bag of milk on the way home or that your sister's birthday is coming up. It's easy to forget. But God never forgets us, even though sometimes we wonder if he has. After being cooped up in the ark for six months, Noah probably wondered if God had forgotten him. But in the middle of the flood story, we read that "God remembered Noah." And when God remembers, he acts. You can count on God to remember you too. Remember to join us this Sunday, Mothers' Day, at Lucknow Community Church, for our 10:00 a.m. service.

In perfect harmony
Over 35 years ago, Coca-Cola's iconic "Hilltop" commercial encouraged us to "buy the world a Coke, and keep it company." The song was borrowed from the New Seekers' "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony." Perfect harmony sounds like a utoptian dream. But perfect harmony is how we can describe the creation of the world in Genesis 1 and 2, and perfect harmony will be restored in the fullness of time when God makes all things new in Jesus Christ. Join us this Sunday, for "Perfect Harmony - life without shame." 10:00 a.m.
