Happy Thanksgiving Day!
We're a humble lot, usually. We get a little uncomfortable when our churches become a bit too grandiose. Many Christians might object to the opulence of the Crystal Cathedral, but in the Bible, we read that the temple King David planned to build for God was to be a "palatial structure," (I Chronicles 29:1). How could the people afford such an elaborate building project? They could do it because God had given them the means. And David praised God for it; he said: "Yours O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours" (v 11). We will offer to God that same prayer, tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day - join us for worship at 10:00 a.m.
